This is Ford Advanced Vehicles, the plant where they they made Ford GT40s in the 1960s, Americas premier sports racing car. The client owns and restores these cars (the one in the center is his) and has a vast collection of resource material. We went through several photographs taken in various parts of the world to find this image.
I love working from high quality resource material and this is among the best. The client chose black and white. I mix my own blacks from Burnt Umber and Ultramarine blue and it was a real challenge mixing the same black every painting session over a long period of time. I typically work from back to front and here I went from right to left (I'm left handed). There is a time lapse reel of the progress on both my Facebook and Instagram pages. This was a joy from initial conversation to delivery.
