Oil on Canvas
30 x 40

This is a popular piece, maybe because of the figure, maybe because of the car.
I love the process of painting, strokes and dabs of color that combine to tell a story.
The idea here is to show that the automotive designers had the human body in mind when designing the car body. In this case the the car on the canvas is an actual tracing of the reclining figure. Car body landmarks are actually referred to as "hip line', "belt line" etc. I used the artist in the center as a sort of processor, the figure on the left being re-interperted as an automotive shell, in this case a Pininfarina designed 375MM from the 50s.
In the initial sketches it looked too much like a cross, so I brought in a few things, changed the elevations of the subjects and tried to get some diagonals in there to break up the cross and still get my point across.
